Third Party Fire & Theft motor vehicle Insurance

Third party fire and theft provides cover for loss or damage to your vehicle for fire and theft only, and legal liability for loss or damage to another person's property.

Cover features Uninsured motorist damage

If your vehicle suffers loss or damage as a result of a collision with an uninsured vehicle and you are not at fault, the insurer will cover the cost to repair your vehicle, including towing your vehicle up to $5,000

Hire Vehicle costs

If your vehicle is stolen or if it is unsafe to drive, ride or tow as a result of theft or attempted theft, the insurer will pay the cost of a hire vehicle for up to 14 days

14-day automatic cover

If you replace your insured vehicle for another within 30 days, the same level of cover for up to 14 days for your new vehicle, provided you tell the insurer about the vehicle within the 14 days, can be arranged.

$20 million liability cover

Up to $20 million liability cover for loss or damage to other peoples' property as a result of an incident.

It includes liability cover for personal injury when there is no insurance required by law to provide cover for death or bodily injury. If there is such insurance available and you do not take it, the policy doesn’t provide any cover. There is no cover for injury to the driver or any member of their family or anyone who lives with them. There is also no cover for injury to you or any member of your family (or anyone who lives with you).

Towing or Transport of your vehicle

Cover for up to $500 to return your vehicle if it is damaged by fire or theft in an incident more than 100kilomtres from where you live

Emergency repairs

Up to $500 for emergency or temporary repairs to your vehicle following a fire, or the attempted theft of your vehicle, or the theft of items from your vehicle.

Towing

If your vehicle is damaged by fire or theft, the insurer will pay the cost of towing your vehicle to a repairer near the event site (or where the vehicle is found), or to another place the insurer agrees to.

Policy excess

An excess is the amount you contribute to the settlement of your claim. The motor vehicle insurance policies have standard excess amounts as well as excesses based upon driver age and experience. Young and inexperienced drivers are subject to an irremovable excess.
