Policy excessAn excess is the amount you contribute to the settlement of your claim. The motor vehicle insurance policies have standard excess amounts as well as excesses based upon driver age and experience. Young and inexperienced drivers are subject to an irremovable excess.
Faultless excessIf the insurer agrees that the incident was not the fault of the driver of your vehicle, and the insurer is provided with the contact details of the person who caused the incident, including their name, current residential address and vehicle registration, and who they are insured with, you won’t need to pay your excess.
Market or agreed value If your vehicle is destroyed or stolen and not recovered, the Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance gives you the choice of two ways to settle your claim:If your car is stolen or destroyed when it is less than 24 months old, and has travelled under 30,000kms; or more than two years old, but less than three years old, and has travelled under 50,000kms, the policy cover enables you to replace your car with a new one including the cost of registration and dealer delivery.
Hire Vehicle costsIf your vehicle is stolen or if it is unsafe to drive, ride or tow as a result of theft or attempted theft, the insurer will pay the cost of a hire vehicle for up to 14 days
14-day automatic coverIf you replace your insured vehicle for another within 30 days, the same level of cover for up to 14 days for your new vehicle, provided you tell the insurer about the vehicle within the 14 days, can be arranged.
$20 million liability coverUp to $20 million liability cover for loss or damage to other peoples' property as a result of an incident.
It includes liability cover for personal injury when there is no insurance required by law to provide cover for death or bodily injury. If there is such insurance available and you do not take it, the policy doesn't provide any cover. There is no cover for injury to the driver or any member of their family or anyone who lives with them. There is also no cover for injury to you or any member of your family (or anyone who lives with you).
Windscreen ExtensionThe comprehensive policy provides you with an option to select cover for one broken windscreen or window, in any one year, without having to pay the excess or affecting your No Claim Bonus
Trailer attached to your vehicleTrailer cover is provided up to $1000 for loss or damage whilst attached to your vehicle
Towing or Transport of your vehicleCover for up to $500 to return your vehicle if it is damaged in an incident more than 100 kilometres from where you live.
Emergency repairsUp to $500 cover for emergency or temporary repairs to your vehicle.
TowingCover for reasonable costs of towing your vehicle to a nearby repairer or place of safety after an accident.
Personal itemsUp to $500 cover for personal property (such as clothing and luggage) that is in your car and damaged during an incident or stolen from your locked car, when you have comprehensive cover.
Transport or accommodation when you are away from homeWhen your vehicle is damaged in an accident more than 100 kilometres from your home, up to $500 cover to either transport you and your occupants back to your home, or accommodate you and your occupants for one night.
